Who can apply
You need to have passed Class 10 from a recognised board by the cut-off date in the notice. The age limit is generally 18 to 23 years, with relaxation for reserved categories. Physical standards (height, and chest for men) and a physical efficiency test apply after the CBT.
How to apply
- Complete or update your One-Time Registration on ssc.gov.in.
- Fill the GD 2027 form, choose your force preferences and exam centres carefully, and upload your photo and signature as specified.
- Pay the fee if it applies to you (women and SC/ST/ex-servicemen candidates are usually exempt — check the notice) and save the confirmation page.
- Do not wait for 31 October. The SSC site slows down sharply in the last two days.
CBT pattern
The computer-based test has 80 questions for 160 marks in 60 minutes, with +2 for a correct answer and −0.5 for a wrong one, at Class 10 level.
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 20 questions.
- General Knowledge & General Awareness: 20 questions.
- Elementary Mathematics: 20 questions.
- English or Hindi: 20 questions.
Use the next three months
Spend November on concepts in maths and reasoning and on static GK in short daily blocks. From December, switch to timed mocks. Start running every morning now: the PET follows the CBT result quickly, and stamina takes months to build.
