Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) Mock Tests, Syllabus & Complete Exam Guide

Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (exam code AZ-900) is Microsoft's entry-level cloud certification. It validates a foundational understanding of cloud computing and of core Microsoft Azure services, along with how Azure is priced, managed and governed. It's built for anyone starting with the cloud — not only engineers, but also students, salespeople, project managers and decision-makers who need to speak the language of Azure.

The exam has around 40–60 questions in a 45-minute sitting, is scored on a scaled 100–1000 range with a passing mark of 700, and carries no negative marking. Crucially, unlike associate-level certifications, Fundamentals certifications do not expire.

As Microsoft Azure powers a huge share of enterprise cloud workloads, a recognised proof of Azure literacy is valuable across many roles. AZ-900 is the most common first step: it gives you the vocabulary and mental model of the cloud, and it's a natural launchpad to role-based certifications like Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or Azure Developer (AZ-204).

Because the exam is conceptual rather than deeply technical, success comes from broad, accurate coverage of the three domains — cloud concepts, Azure architecture and services, and management and governance — rather than hands-on depth in any single service. Working through plenty of exam-style questions is the fastest way to solidify that breadth and spot the definitions the exam likes to test.
