What is the BSSC CGL exam?
BSSC CGL is the Combined Graduate Level examination conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission, headquartered at Patna. It is the gateway to graduate-level Group C careers in the Bihar government — posts such as clerks, assistants, revenue employees, planning assistants and similar cadres across state departments are filled through a single competitive exam whenever vacancies are notified.
The selection runs across two objective stages. The Preliminary examination is an OMR-based screening test covering General Studies, General Science & Mathematics and Comprehension/Reasoning/Mental Ability. Those who clear the Prelims cutoff sit the objective Main examination, which — along with document verification — decides the final merit. Both stages carry one-fourth (1/4) negative marking, so disciplined, accurate attempting matters as much as raw knowledge.
