DRDO CEPTAM Mock Tests, Syllabus & Complete Exam Guide

DRDO CEPTAM is the recruitment examination conducted by the Centre for Personnel Talent Management (CEPTAM) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. It selects technical and administrative support staff — commonly Technician-A (Group-C) and Senior Technical Assistant-B (Group-B, non-gazetted) — for DRDO's network of defence R&D laboratories such as DRDL, ADE, RCI, ADRDE and many others across the country. It is a sought-after recruitment because it offers a stable central-government career in cutting-edge defence research with only a technical qualification.

The selection has multiple stages: a Tier-I Computer Based Test, a Tier-II test (a trade/skill test for technician posts or a descriptive/discipline paper for STA-B posts) and document verification. The Tier-I CBT is a 120-minute objective paper across four areas — Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science & Engineering — with no negative marking, so accuracy and coverage decide the shortlist for Tier-II.

Because there is no negative marking, the Tier-I rewards broad coverage and attempting every question. Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning are the most scoreable with practice — drill number system, percentage, ratio, interest, mensuration, analogy, series, coding-decoding, blood relations and direction sense until they are quick and automatic. General Awareness is high-return: build defence R&D knowledge (DRDO labs, missiles like Agni, Prithvi, BrahMos and Akash, LCA Tejas, radar systems) alongside static GK and national current affairs.

General Science & Engineering rewards clear fundamentals in physics, chemistry and basic engineering — units, Ohm's law, series/parallel circuits, pH, common reactions and simple machines. Full-length timed mocks build the stamina the 120-minute paper demands and help you balance time across sections, and reviewing the solution for every question you miss steadily closes gaps before Tier-II.
