IBPS PO is the Common Recruitment Process run by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to recruit Probationary Officers (also called Management Trainees) for the public-sector banks that participate in it. A Probationary Officer is an entry-level officer who, after a probation period, handles banking operations, customer service, credit and administration, with a clear path to managerial roles. It is one of India's most sought-after government-job exams, drawing lakhs of graduate applicants each year for a limited number of vacancies.

Selection has three stages: a qualifying Preliminary exam, a decisive Main exam (objective plus a short descriptive paper), and a personal Interview. Mains is where the exam is truly won. The Data Analysis & Interpretation and Reasoning & Computer Aptitude sections are longer and harder, and General & Banking Awareness rewards steady, static preparation — banking terms, the roles of the RBI and regulators, and basic economy.
