What is the IOCL recruitment exam?
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is India's largest public sector oil and gas company and a Maharatna enterprise, spanning crude refining, pipelines, and the marketing of petrol, diesel, LPG (Indane), lubricants and petrochemicals. To staff its refineries, pipelines and marketing divisions it recruits engineers, officers and technical assistants through a structured selection process — for many posts a written test, and for others shortlisting via a valid GATE score, followed by a group task and interview.
The written test is discipline-focused: a strong technical/discipline section on refining, marketing and core engineering fundamentals, together with quantitative aptitude and reasoning, English language and general awareness with an oil-and-gas flavour. Because IOCL roles are competitive and vacancy-driven, accuracy across all four sections — not just the technical one — is what builds a shortlist-worthy score.
