What is the Kerala PSC HSA exam?
The Kerala PSC High School Assistant (HSA) examination is how the Kerala Public Service Commission recruits teachers for classes 8 to 10 in the state's government and aided high schools. Vacancies are notified subject-wise — Malayalam, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science and others — and candidates sit a single objective paper that combines a subject part with general parts on teaching aptitude and pedagogy, general knowledge and the languages. A strong score builds a high position on the ranked list, from which appointments are made as vacancies arise.
Because the post is a secondary-school teaching job, the paper leans heavily on pedagogy and the education system: educational psychology, teaching methods and evaluation at the secondary level, the National Education Policy 2020, the Right to Education, and the education commissions that shaped Indian schooling. Alongside this sit Malayalam and English language questions and a subject-specific part for the discipline being recruited.
