What is the Kerala PSC LDC exam?
The Kerala PSC Lower Division Clerk (LDC) examination is one of the most popular and widely written recruitment tests in Kerala. It fills clerical LDC posts across state government departments, local self-government bodies and public-sector undertakings, and needs only a pass in the SSLC (Class 10) examination, so it attracts a very large pool of candidates competing for a limited number of vacancies. A strong rank on the objective paper can lead to a secure Kerala government job.
Selection runs through a single objective test whose score builds a district-wise ranked list; candidates on the list are then called in rank order for certificate verification and appointment as vacancies arise. The syllabus stays at SSLC level — General Knowledge and current affairs (with a strong Kerala focus), general science, simple arithmetic and mental ability, and language (Malayalam and English) — so accuracy, revision and speed decide who reaches the top of the list.
