What is the Kerala PSC LPSA exam?
The Kerala PSC LP School Assistant (LPSA) examination recruits Lower Primary School Assistants — the teachers who take the youngest classes in Kerala's government and aided lower-primary schools. Because the job is about teaching five- to ten-year-olds, the test leans heavily on teaching aptitude and pedagogy: child psychology, how young children learn, activity-based and play-based teaching, and continuous evaluation. Alongside pedagogy it tests command of both languages the classroom uses — Malayalam and English — plus general knowledge and the primary-level mathematics a teacher must handle with confidence.
Unlike a multi-stage civil-services model, LPSA recruitment runs through a single objective test whose score builds a district-wise ranked list; candidates on the list are then called in rank order for certificate verification and appointment as vacancies arise. Eligibility is built for teaching — a TTC or D.El.Ed teacher-training qualification together with a valid KTET pass — so the exam assumes a candidate who already knows the craft and tests how well they can apply it.
