What is the Kerala PSC exam?
The Kerala Public Service Commission is one of India's busiest state recruitment bodies, filling a huge range of Kerala government posts through objective written tests and ranked lists. Its degree-level tests — for roles such as the Kerala Administrative Service, Secretariat Assistant, and various assistant and officer posts — are among the most sought-after, because a strong rank on the common objective paper can lead to a secure state government job. Kerala's high literacy and intense competition make accuracy and preparation the deciding factors.
Unlike the three-stage civil-services model, most Kerala PSC recruitment runs through a single objective test whose score builds a ranked list; candidates on the list are then called in rank order for certificate verification and appointment as vacancies arise. The syllabus is broad — General Knowledge and current affairs, general science, mental ability and simple arithmetic, and language — with a strong, distinctive emphasis on Kerala's renaissance, history, geography and culture.
