What is the Kerala PSC Staff Nurse exam?
The Kerala Public Service Commission recruits Staff Nurses for the state's government hospitals and health institutions through an objective written test. It is one of the most sought-after nursing recruitments in Kerala, because a strong rank on the objective paper can lead to a secure state government nursing post in the Health Services, Medical Education or allied departments. Candidates need a GNM diploma or a B.Sc Nursing degree and registration with the nursing council.
Unlike a multi-stage interview process, the recruitment runs mainly through a single objective test whose score builds a ranked list; candidates are then called in rank order for certificate verification and appointment as vacancies arise. The paper blends a nursing and subject part — fundamentals of nursing, anatomy and physiology, medical-surgical and community-health nursing, first aid and common drugs — with general sections on general knowledge and current affairs (with a strong health focus), general science and Malayalam.
