What is the KVS teacher recruitment exam?
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education that runs the Kendriya Vidyalayas — a large chain of central government schools across India and a few abroad, set up mainly to educate the children of transferable central government employees. KVS recruits teachers for three broad levels: Primary Teacher (PRT) for the primary classes, Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for the middle/secondary classes, and Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for the senior secondary classes.
Selection is based on a computer-based written test followed, where applicable, by an interview and a demonstration (demo) teaching lesson. The written test is objective and covers general awareness and current affairs, reasoning and numerical ability, teaching aptitude and pedagogy, language proficiency in English and Hindi, computer literacy, and the subject content of the post. Because there is no negative marking, the exam rewards broad, accurate coverage rather than cautious guessing.
