MPSC Rajyaseva Mock Tests, Syllabus & Complete Exam Guide

The MPSC State Services examination, popularly called Rajyaseva, is the Maharashtra Public Service Commission's premier recruitment exam for gazetted Class I and Class II officer posts in the state administration. Successful candidates become Deputy Collectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Tahsildars, Block Development Officers, Naib Tahsildars, Sales Tax Inspectors and hold other administrative and revenue posts across Maharashtra. Because it offers a prestigious, secure administrative career in one's home state, it draws lakhs of graduate aspirants each year.

The selection runs in three stages. The Preliminary examination is an objective screening test with two papers — General Studies Paper I and the CSAT Paper II (qualifying) — carrying one-fourth negative marking. Those who clear it sit the descriptive Mains, which includes compulsory Marathi and English language papers alongside General Studies, and finally a personality test (Interview). Final merit is decided by the Mains and Interview together; the Prelims only screens candidates for the next stage.

Rajyaseva rewards a strong, balanced base in General Studies combined with distinctive Maharashtra-specific knowledge — the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the forts, the social reformers Phule, Ambedkar and Agarkar, the Sahyadri ranges, the state's rivers and districts, its culture and government schemes. Static General Studies (history, polity, geography and economy) is high-return and stable, so build it steadily and revise it often rather than cramming.

The CSAT paper is qualifying but must not be neglected: practise quantitative aptitude, reasoning and comprehension until you comfortably clear the qualifying mark. Because the Prelims carries one-fourth negative marking, disciplined attempting matters — answer what you can reason to confidently and avoid blind guesses. The Mains rewards good written Marathi and English, so read standard Marathi grammar (vyakaran, sandhi, samas, alankar, mhani and vakprachar) and practise descriptive writing alongside the objective mocks.
