What is the RBI Grade B exam?
RBI Grade B is the Reserve Bank of India's recruitment exam for the post of Officer in Grade 'B' (Direct Recruit — General), the entry point into the central bank's managerial cadre. Officers selected through it help shape and implement policy across the RBI's departments — Monetary Policy, Regulation, Supervision, Financial Markets, Currency Management and more — making it one of the most sought-after careers in Indian banking and economics.
Selection has three stages. Phase I is a 120-minute online objective test of 200 questions across General Awareness, Reasoning, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude, with sectional timing, and is qualifying. Phase II tests deeper understanding through three papers — Economic & Social Issues, English Writing Skills and Finance & Management — combining objective and descriptive questions. Shortlisted candidates then face an Interview, and the final merit rests on Phase II and the Interview.
