What is the RRB Technician exam?
RRB Technician is the Railway Recruitment Boards' exam for the post of Technician on the Indian Railways — Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III across various trades. These technicians maintain and operate the railway's signalling, electrical, mechanical, carriage-and-wagon and other technical systems, and it is a popular route into a secure technical career on the railways for candidates with a Class 10 plus ITI background.
The selection has two parts: a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. The CBT covers Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness & Current Affairs; for Technician Grade III it also carries a trade/basic-science section. Because the CBT has one-third negative marking and is speed-based, accuracy under time decides your CBT score, and the normalised CBT score decides final merit.
