SBI Clerk is the State Bank of India's recruitment exam for the post of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales), the clerical cadre that forms the front line of SBI branches. Junior Associates handle cash transactions, open and service accounts, process deposits and withdrawals, answer customer queries and support the branch's daily banking operations. Because it needs only a graduate degree and offers a stable, well-paid public-sector banking career, it is one of India's most sought-after clerical recruitment exams, drawing lakhs of applicants each year.

The selection has two online stages and no interview. The Preliminary exam is a 1-hour, 100-question paper across English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability with 20-minute sectional timing; it is only qualifying. Reasoning and Numerical Ability carry the most scoreable marks; build calculation speed and pattern recognition so you do not lose time under sectional timing.

The Main exam is where merit is decided, so the extra sections matter. General and Financial Awareness is high-return and stable — build banking terms, RBI functions, account and card types, financial abbreviations and current affairs steadily over time. Computer Aptitude rewards a little consistent study. With a one-fourth negative-marking penalty in both stages, disciplined attempting matters: solve what you know quickly and avoid blind guesses.
