About government exams
Government exams in India are the most contested route to a stable public-service career, and they span three broad tiers: the UPSC Civil Services Examination at the top, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for central-government clerical and inspector posts, and the state public service commissions such as TNPSC that recruit for state administration. Each has its own pattern — from UPSC's three-stage Prelims-Mains-Interview marathon to SSC's tiered CBTs and TNPSC's single or two-stage objective papers.
What unites them is breadth: general studies covering history, polity, geography, economy, science and current affairs, tested at a level that rewards consistent, long-horizon preparation rather than last-minute cramming. Many state exams — TNPSC in particular — are bilingual, letting candidates answer in their regional language, which is why our TNPSC papers are fully bilingual in Tamil and English.

Government exams — frequently asked questions
Which government exam should a fresh graduate start with?
It depends on your target. For the highest administrative posts, UPSC CSE is the goal but needs long preparation. SSC CGL is a strong, quicker route to central-government officer and inspector posts, and state commissions like TNPSC Group 1/2 offer state administrative careers. Many graduates prepare for two overlapping exams because the general-studies syllabus is largely shared.
Do government exams have negative marking?
